Ketsal Expands its Web3 Regulatory Practice, Adding New Partner to Support Compliance On-Chain

Andrew W. Grant will support digital asset and fintech clients through legal counseling and guidance on regulation, compliance, and transactions.

New York, NY, February 22, 2023 – Ketsal, a full-service legal and consulting firm specializing in Web3 and fintech compliance, is expanding its regulatory practice with the addition of a new partner, Andrew W. Grant. The addition of Grant will provide Ketsal with valuable industry expertise and an extended network in the regulatory space, contributing to the company’s mission of supporting compliance on the blockchain.

Grant, who joins Ketsal from DLA Piper, a global law firm, brings a wealth of experience and expertise in providing regulatory, compliance, and transactional legal guidance to financial institutions and fintech companies. Andrew will focus on the complex and rapidly evolving regulatory landscape for digital assets and fintech. He will be helping clients navigate a variety of issues related to money transmission, crypto custody arrangements, consumer protection concerns, and the novel regulatory concerns that frequently arise in this space, as well as representing clients in negotiating bank partnership agreements, “banking-as-a-service” agreements, among other areas.

“We have welcomed one of top industry experts to Ketsal at a pivotal moment in the digital asset industry,” said Joshua Garcia, Co-founder and Partner at Ketsal. “As institutions and individuals join the Web3 community, most will consider safely and securely participating only if companies have compliant frameworks. The fall of big crypto institutions in 2022 will have an effect on the companies building innovative technology on-chain and the customers who engage with them in 2023. Andrew’s diverse experience brings perspectives from a top 10 law firm and critically takes into account pertinent issues our clients need advice on.”

Ketsal represents a cross-section of clients from highly regulated financial institutions to seed stage startups including Ava Labs, Aleo, Aptos, and Mercury. Grant’s addition to the team will help the firm continue supporting its clients and build the standard for compliance on the blockchain.

“I’m excited to join the Ketsal team and have the opportunity to work with individuals who are talented, skilled and have a deep understanding of the industry. Working for a firm at the intersection of law, fintech, and blockchain combines the best elements needed to address crypto regulation. I look forward to seeing Ketsal grow as we reach more clients and new partners,” said Andrew Grant, Partner at Ketsal.

Ketsal was founded in 2018, designed to provide legal advisory services and non-legal consulting services to startups building innovative platforms. The firm now services startups, financial services, fintech, and blockchain companies that seek to change the world. Ketsal offers legal and consulting services in the following areas: general corporate services, capital formation, money transmitter registration & licensing, bank partnerships, digital asset launches, litigation and enforcement, domestic and global regulation, legal project management, thought leadership, education, and professional networking.
